ReDeck extension vs Windows desktop app
Same dashboard, two installs
Both the ReDeck browser extension and the Windows desktop app give you a multi-column TweetDeck-style layout for X. You sign in on X inside the product; layouts and settings stay local on your device.
Choose based on how you already use X—not on missing features between the two clients.
When the browser extension fits
If X is already a daily tab in Chrome or Edge, the extension is the lightest path: install from the Chrome Web Store or Microsoft Edge Add-ons, open x.com/redeck, and keep your layout in that browser profile.
Best for users who want ReDeck beside other web tools and do not need a separate app window.
When the Windows app fits
The Microsoft Store desktop app opens ReDeck in its own window—helpful if you want X monitoring separate from browser tabs, or if you standardize on a dedicated social desk setup.
Use the same workspaces and backup files to move layouts between extension and desktop where both are installed.
Performance and privacy on both
Off-screen column suspension, sleep mode, and live API rate visibility apply to both builds. Neither version sends your personal settings to ReDeck-operated analytics servers; see the privacy policy for details.
